Happy Hour. New Paintings 2023-2024
In his sixth decade of painting, Reinhard Pods continues to push the boundaries of an expressive and de-skilled means of painting. Echoing the graffiti covered U-Bahn carriages and subway cars of Kreuzberg and SoHo in the late 70s and early 80s, Pods introduces figurative and textual fragments in a redefinition of the ‘urban expressionism’ pioneered by artists like Albert Oehlen, Martin Kippenberger, Joyce Pensato, Donald Baechler, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
