In the ninth INTERVENTION at kunstraum friesenstrasse, the Berlin painter and sculptor Jakob Mattner (*1946) sets his own works in relation to works from the Gisela Sperling Collection. Mattner’s internationally recognised work is dedicated to phenomena in the continuum between light and darkness, between origin and present, beginning and end, both in painting, graphic art and sculpture. Mattner incorporates both scientific research and literary texts into his complex artistic practice. (Stefan Becker)
