Max Beckmann

* 12th FEBRUARY 1884 IN LEIPZIG (GER)
† 27th DECEMBER 1950 IN NEW YORK (USA)

Max Beckman was one of the main exponents of expressionism and is regarded as one of the most important German artists of the 20th Century. He represents the classical legacy of art through his interest in space, colour, classification, mythology, and symbolism. In 1937 he emigrated to Amsterdam and in 1947 he relocated to the USA. Today his work can be found in the most prestigious museums in America and Europe.
